Michael Joseph Strada was a blessing to all who met him; and passed away on 3 August 2022 at the Filosa Nursing Home in Danbury, CT. Mike was born on 20 December 1920 in the Bronx, New York to his Italian mother Annetta Bigi who emigrated from Italy. Mike's father, Papa Nick, was second husband to Annetta; and Mike had a younger brother Alfred; along with four half-siblings Albert Sues, Walter Sues, William Sues, and Wanda Sues. Mike was a World War II veteran who served in the U.S. Navy Seabees in the Pacific Theatre. Mike was a life-long resident of New York City, and was the Maitre d’ at the River Club in Manhattan until his retirement in his 80's. At the River Club Mike was privileged to serve many famous celebrities, including Henry Kissinger, Secretary of State under President Richard Nixon. On Mike's 100th birthday, he received birthday wishes from the U.S. President's Office. Mike was a bachelor, and beloved by his many relatives, including many nieces, nephews, and cousins; especially including Ms. Maria Pia Conte, daughter of his very close cousin Giovanna (Jane) DeAngelis-Conte, whose mother Carolina Bigi remained in Naples, Italy and enjoyed the blessings of a large Italian family. Maria Pia often visited Mike at the Filosa Nursing Home and arranged for many family-reunion-outings with his many grand-cousins of three generations. Mike loved to travel, especially to Italy and Denmark; and was an avid photographer.
