Obituary of Teresa A. Hussein

Teresa Anne Hussein passed away on Saturday, 23-January-2021 from complications due to covid-19. She was 79 years old. She worked with her hands, her beautiful hands, that were uniquely formed congenitally and by medical intervention. From the time she was small, she was taught by her mother, her maternal grandparents, and her aunts Phinny and Mary, that she could do anything anyone with normal hands could, if only she tried. And she did. Her hands were never a handicap. All of her life she used those hands to create. Art, clothing, stories, food. Italian-Sicilian, she used her hands to communicate, to punctuate her spoken words. Crossword puzzles she did in pen. A voracious reader, those hands held the books and magazines she devoured. She used her hands to comfort and to show love and to fix things— machinery, anything broken that still had use. She added beauty to this world. She loved her family, by blood and by choice, fiercely and unconditionally. She is survived by her children, her grandson, her great-grandchildren, and her and their chosen family. She‘s rejoined her husband of nearly 50 years, Sabry. “May her memory be eternal.”
