Saung Yang Lee, also known as Sammy to his friends in the U.S., passed away on October 2, at the age of 93. Born on June 22, 1931 in China, he moved to Taiwan as a teenager where he lived until he immigrated to the U.S. in the 1960s.
Sammy built a long, distinguished career at the United Nations in New York City. He also owned and ran a candy store in Forest Hills, Queens, where he became a beloved member of the local community.
Sammy was preceded in death by his wife, Raimy Lee. He is survived by his children, Lily Tan, Vivian Cheung, George Lee and Susan Park; his grandchildren Jessica and Jasmin Tan, Tiffany Cheung, Faye Lee, and Jaxson and Hunter Park; and great-grandchildren Ronin and Kai Hoyer.
